This Privacy Policy describes how Taught by Maestro ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our website and subscription service (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form). If you subscribe to a paid plan, we collect billing information; payment card details are processed and stored by our third-party payment processor (Stripe) and are not stored on our servers.
Usage and conversation data. We collect the messages you send to the Service, files you upload (audio recordings, images, sheet music), and the AI responses you receive. This data is used to deliver the Service and may be used to improve it.
Device and log data. We automatically collect information such as your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URLs, pages visited, and timestamps. This information is used for security, diagnostics, and analytics.
Cookies and local storage. We use browser local storage to maintain your session and conversation history. We may also use cookies for authentication and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect Service functionality.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We share information with third parties only as necessary to provide the Service:
We require these service providers to handle your data in accordance with applicable privacy laws and their own privacy commitments.
When you upload an audio recording, image, or other media file to the Service, that file is transmitted to our servers and then to the applicable third-party AI processing service (Google Gemini for audio and video; Anthropic Claude for images and documents). We do not retain uploaded media files longer than necessary to process your request, unless you have explicitly shared them as part of a saved lesson. Audio recordings you submit are never used to train AI models on our behalf without your explicit consent.
We retain your account information and conversation history for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, regulatory, or fraud-prevention purposes.

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information to the Service, please contact us immediately at hello@taughtbymaestro.com.
Users between 13 and 18 should use the Service only with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed password storage, and restricted access to production systems. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.
